When you err on the short side (I’m 5’2”/158cm), finding flattering styles of boots is a bit like shopping for jeans - there are certain styles that will flatter your frame and other styles that are left for those less vertically challenged. So you can imagine how it feels to find boot silhouettes that actually work. You hang onto those for dear life! And while height or build doesn’t necessarily limit your choices, there are different considerations to keep in mind for what suits. So with that in mind, and with much trial and error of the various boot silhouettes on offer, here are the three boot styles that I’m embracing this winter.
While I love the luxury of silk, I’m not so keen on its maintenance. It’s pretty demanding, particularly when you compare it to its fabric siblings like cotton, and on top of that, silk doesn’t come cheap. It seems the silk gods have heard our cries and recently, there has been an emergence of a low maintenance variety. Silk shirts that never have to be dry cleaned? Sign me up! I’ve been lucky enough to get my hands on several washable silk pieces from Everlane - my current go-to and general treasure trove for elevated basics. Everlane’s Washable Silk collection currently consists of two styles - the Relaxed Shirt and the Henley. I share my thoughts in this post.
In today’s post I wanted to share with you the shoes I’ve been enjoying wearing to the office now that I’ve been back for a few months. And while back in my 20s I used to traipse (...or rather, clomp) around in my 10cm+ high heels in the office, aside from the fact that they weren’t the most practical of choices, I’ve found that they’re just not really necessary anymore. A low-to-mid heel works just fine and they’re comfortable enough to walk around in all day and give that extra bit of height. In this post, I’m going to share three styles of shoes that I’ve thoroughly enjoyed wearing recently.
I’m sure you’ve all heard the saying “Dress for the job you want, not the one you have.” And while clothing isn't everything (it won't make up for a lack of knowledge or ability), the right outfit can complement your skills. I know I can do a good job, but the right outfit makes me feel like I can do a great job!
With extended periods of time spent at home, there’s no denying that we’ve never quite appreciated loungewear as much as we have in recent times. Our trusty companion for laying on the sofa binge-watching shows or curling up in bed with a good book & a cup of tea or working from home (or living at work…). I’m sporting Everlane’s Dream Pant in Dark Forest and the name speaks for itself - they really are a dream come true and these can be best described as tailored trousers that feel like sweat pants. I share my thoughts on sizing and quality in this post.
Like most of you, I have a love-hate relationship with heels (I love them, but they seem to hate me). Last month, I was lucky enough to receive a pair of Sarah Flint’s “Perfect Pumps” in Taupe with the 85mm heel which purport to provide all-day comfort without sacrificing style. Despite the bold claims of the pumps, I wasn’t expecting miracles. Suffice to say, my skepticism was turned on its head after a few seconds in these heels. These are, hands-down, the most comfortable pumps I have ever tried on. In this post, I share my comprehensive thoughts.
