Everlane is one of my go-to places for well-made wardrobe staples. And in light of how many Everlane pieces I have in my closet, I’m always excited to try out their new items. Their much-loved Modern Loafer first released around 5 years ago has had a bit of a refresh, and for the past few weeks I’ve been testing out their newest version - Modern Loafer 2.0 - software updates and all (see what I did there?!).
I’ve been really enjoying our mild summer here in Sydney. It means my jeans and knits are getting a bit of use. I’m sporting the new Everlane Way High Skinny Jeans in Vintage Blue - one of their latest denim styles that feature a high rise (11.7” to be exact) . If you’re on the petite side (like me), or you have short legs (also me), wearing high rise anything is a great way to elongate your legs. The majority of my bottoms are high rise for this very reason. I share my thoughts on sizing and the newest Everlane denim style.
Here are my thoughts on one of Everlane’s hero staples - the Oversized Wool Blazer. The Everlane Oversized Wool Blazer has been around for several years now, and comes in a variety of classic shades. It's a popular piece, and it always sells out fast, which I put down to the fact that it’s a fabulous wardrobe all-rounder. I have the Oversized Wool Blazer in Beige Twill, a light neutral shade that is a new release hue for the current season.
I’m going to be sharing with you my best and worst luxury purchases for 2020. I’ve dedicated a fair few blog posts to luxury items this year so it only felt fitting to do a wrap up like this. I made five big ticket item purchases in 2020 - two of them secondhand and the other three discounted. When it comes to designer items, I take a considered approach before pulling the trigger and typically purchase these items after they’ve been on my wishlist for some time. Given the hefty price tags, I take a bit of time performing my due diligence and waiting it out in the hopes of a sale!
The cowboy boot craze seems to be going rife at the moment. New shoe arrivals on every chic online boutique are proof of this. Unlike other ankle boots, such as chelsea boots or pointed leather boots, traditional western boots have a particular aesthetic, making them trickier to style. That said, the Western boots that the street style set are sporting this season are much more refined than the rugged styles of the past. Having never owned a pair from Everlane before, I wanted to try them out for myself, and have been road testing their Western Boot in Light Tan Suede for the past couple of months. They come in a variety of colours and leathers but I couldn’t pass up the fresh tan hue and I’ve yet to try any suede shoes from Everlane.
For a lover of muted tones, I realise this coat is a bit of an outlier. The toffee tone is a tad sharper than what you would normally see on me and adds a big pop of colour to any outfit! But I wanted to branch out from my usual colour palette while still adhering to my style ethos - and I'm so glad I did. Not only does it add some fun with its cheery colour, the coat pairs so well with the existing neutrals in my wardrobe while making a bit of a statement.
