Happy New Year everybody! To reflect on the year that was, I wanted to share my favourite outfits of the year. 2020 was a big year for all of us. Not only did many of us spend the majority of the year working our traditional office jobs from home but it meant that the usual dress codes were cast by the wayside. I’ve embraced relaxed but polished looks to wear when reporting for duty from the... well, nursery (as I’ve set up a proper workstation in there while my youngest is in day-care for the day!) and not only have I embraced relaxed looks, but I’ve grown to really love them. On the days that I did head in to the office, it was fun to dust off my favourite workwear pieces and give them a bit of love.
I don’t like playing favourites (at least that’s what I tell my kids) but there were some stand-out pieces that I heavily relied upon more than others. The pieces that feature on my favourites list are ones that I’ve found easy to style, are comfortable to wear and make me feel put together. And while I did post my workwear favourites from last year, considering I haven’t spent that much time in the office, this year’s favourites list won’t be workwear centric and encompasses the pieces that I’ve thoroughly enjoyed wearing year round.
Here are my thoughts on one of Everlane’s hero staples - the Oversized Wool Blazer. The Everlane Oversized Wool Blazer has been around for several years now, and comes in a variety of classic shades. It's a popular piece, and it always sells out fast, which I put down to the fact that it’s a fabulous wardrobe all-rounder. I have the Oversized Wool Blazer in Beige Twill, a light neutral shade that is a new release hue for the current season.
It’s little secret that one of my most worn - and most loved - brands in my wardrobe is Everlane. And like many of you, I’ve spent three-quarters of the year working from home, so naturally their pieces have featured heavily in my outfits this year as I’ve embraced relaxed ensembles for my 9-to-5. It’s one of the few brands that I’ve relied upon for quality and fit, and I’ve found the pieces have seamlessly worked with my wardrobe staples because of the overall minimal aesthetic of the brand.
We've hit sale season and this year seems to be bigger than ever. It can get a bit overwhelming with all the promotions happening all at once so instead of sharing with you all of the blanket discounts going on at the moment, I thought I'd share with you my wardrobe favourites that I've enjoyed wearing for some time, that are now on sale. If you follow me over on Instagram, you'll have seen me style these pieces in numerous looks and be reassured by the fact that they're tried and tested by yours truly!
The cowboy boot craze seems to be going rife at the moment. New shoe arrivals on every chic online boutique are proof of this. Unlike other ankle boots, such as chelsea boots or pointed leather boots, traditional western boots have a particular aesthetic, making them trickier to style. That said, the Western boots that the street style set are sporting this season are much more refined than the rugged styles of the past. Having never owned a pair from Everlane before, I wanted to try them out for myself, and have been road testing their Western Boot in Light Tan Suede for the past couple of months. They come in a variety of colours and leathers but I couldn’t pass up the fresh tan hue and I’ve yet to try any suede shoes from Everlane.
