I’ve been feeling a new sense of optimism this month as I transition back to working out of the office. While there are a few things to get used to, including the commute into the city (that I really didn’t miss), getting dressed has been integral to getting me back into the swing of things. My style ethos encourages mixing high street and high end, and to that end, while I love a good high street find, I always invest when it comes to my workwear staples. For me, they’re the pieces that pull an outfit together and really boost my self-confidence. In today’s post, I thought I’d share with you the ultimate investment pieces for your work wardrobe.
Everlane is one of my go-to places for well-made wardrobe staples. And in light of how many Everlane pieces I have in my closet, I’m always excited to try out their new items. Their much-loved Modern Loafer first released around 5 years ago has had a bit of a refresh, and for the past few weeks I’ve been testing out their newest version - Modern Loafer 2.0 - software updates and all (see what I did there?!).
If there’s one thing I’ve learnt from blogging over the past couple of years, it’s that a good set of basics is everything when it comes to building a successful wardrobe. Finding said basics is, like all good things, easier said than done, however I find that once I do uncover the perfect basic, it remains a steadfast staple in my wardrobe for many years. I can’t say that I’ve managed to meet my sartorial “life partners” in all areas of my wardrobe just yet, but the classic t-shirt is one category that I’m proud to say I’ve conquered!
I recommend a fair few things here on the blog and I thought it would be interesting to share the items that have been the most popular among all of you. For the most part, I haven't been surprised by the items that you've loved the most. They are the pieces that form core wardrobe staples and do double-duty one way or another. But there are a few surprises that I unearthed when going through the numbers!
I’ve been really enjoying our mild summer here in Sydney. It means my jeans and knits are getting a bit of use. I’m sporting the new Everlane Way High Skinny Jeans in Vintage Blue - one of their latest denim styles that feature a high rise (11.7” to be exact) . If you’re on the petite side (like me), or you have short legs (also me), wearing high rise anything is a great way to elongate your legs. The majority of my bottoms are high rise for this very reason. I share my thoughts on sizing and the newest Everlane denim style.
My husband and I have enjoyed some much needed time off work with our boys over the Christmas and New Year period. We’ve been going on daily walks to get some fresh air and enjoying more takeaway meals than usual! I thought I’d share a couple of relaxed looks I’ve enjoyed sporting during my time off and highlight some of the pieces I've enjoyed wearing these past couple of weeks.
