Spring has sprung and nothing says spring to me quite like a Foemina dress.

I first discovered the Aussie, female-founded brand a few years ago and have accumulated a few pieces over the years. I love that their designs are minimal enough to be incredibly versatile, but there’s always a little something something in the shape or details that makes them interesting. They also work for actual life: nothing too clingy or tight when you’re going about everyday business, and the fabrics feel properly premium. I’m particularly partial to their cotton poplin shirts and dresses.

A few of my Foemina dresses in action over the years

My Foemina dresses have made their way into my workwear rotation, travelled with me and I’ve even dressed one up for a wedding. So, given spring has officially sprung, here are my top picks from the new collection.

A quick sizing note: I generally take an 8 in Foemina dresses, but the fits are quite relaxed and there’s usually ample room. I could easily wear a 6 in many of the styles.

Arden Dress in Ginger

Foemina dress* (sz AU 8), Bared Footwear sandals*, Saben bag*

Let’s kick things off with the newest addition to my wardrobe – I’m wearing the Arden Dress in a size 8 and love the relaxed shape and ruching in all the right places. Easy, comfortable and precisely the sort of dress I want to throw on in spring.

Delphine Dress in Blue Stripe Poplin

The gathered neckline, adjustable straps and pockets make this dress such a fun, comfortable option. The blue stripe also feels particularly fresh for spring.

Nylah Dress in Cornflower Poplin

I love the proportions of the Nylah: a neat square neckline and pintuck detailing up top before it falls into a lovely voluminous skirt. And yes, there are pockets.

Frankie Dress in Light Pink

The pleating and rope belt give the Frankie some lovely shape without making it feel overly fitted. The soft pink cotton poplin is also very spring.

Leilani Dress in Chestnut Cotton Silk

It’s the sleeves that got me with this shirt dress. I love an interesting sleeve, and the removable belt gives you the option of defining the waist or wearing it a little more relaxed.

Mavi Dress in Navy Poplin

Such a classic, timeless piece. The pintucked bib on the Mavi is a really lovely detail and this is one I could easily see slotting into my work wardrobe. A note that the sizing advice recommends going up a size in this style.

Sapphire Dress in Pinstripe Crimson

I love the slight cocoon shape of the Sapphire, and the crimson pinstripe is a great way to introduce some colour. The full length also means you could easily dress this one up for an event, given it’s made from a ritzy cotton silk fabric.

Alexis Dress in White

This dress has Foemina’s signature ruching through the waist – very flattering without being remotely figure-hugging. I also love it styled with this belt, which is such an effortless way to elevate the whole thing.
