The Big Bared Sale: My Top Picks

The Big Bared Sale kicks off this morning and, given Bared is my most-worn shoe brand ever (which is not an exaggeration in the slightest), I thought I’d round up my top picks from the sale.

I’ve worked with Bared on previous sales, but this post isn’t sponsored – I own and regularly wear a slightly ridiculous number of their shoes, so I have plenty of thoughts regardless!

I’m keeping this one short and snappy, so let’s talk about five styles I think are particularly worth a look if you’re hoping to add a pair to your wardrobe.

#1 – My most worn loafers

Was $289, now $260

Let’s kick things off with my most worn pair…

L: Bared loafers*, Henne jacket (sz XXS), Henne jeans, Patagonia flannel shirt (sz S – current version linked), Status Anxiety sunglasses, Loewe bag (linked a similar version); R: Bared loafers*, Henne top* (sz XS/S), Levi’s jeans (also here and here), Arms of Eve earrings*, Gucci bag (review here – AU link, US link, UK link also here)

These shoes are a Mary Jane/loafer hybrid with a bit of an old soul personality thanks to the woven detailing and tan leather. I’ve worn mine an absolute tonne and they’ve proven to be incredibly hardwearing too.

I love them with tailored trousers for work, but they’re equally good with jeans and socks on the weekend. If you like a slightly quirky shoe that still works with a very sensible wardrobe, these are excellent.

#2 – My go-to summer sandals that are stylish and comfortable

Was $279, now $251

L: Bared sandals*, Scanlan Theodore top (sz AU 8), Henne jeans (sz 26), Dragon Diffusion bag (also here and here), Status Anxiety sunglasses*. Gimme earrings*; R: Bared sandals*, JAG shirt* (sz AU 8, old season, but here’s a really similar shirt), Nobody Denim jeans* (sz 26), Saben bag*, Status Anxiety sunglasses*, Arms of Eve earrings*

My favourite summer sandals. And don’t let all those straps scare you – these are really comfortable. I wore mine constantly last summer and love that they’re substantial enough to balance out wider-leg trousers and jeans without feeling too dainty. The sole is also spongy and supportive, so despite these looking low profile, they’ve got a bit more going on in there.

They come in both chocolate brown and black, and were very much my summer go-to.

#3 – These cowboy style boots

Was $389, now $350

L: Bared boots* (sz 37), Vintage Burberry trench (similar style here and here), Perri Cutten skirt* (sz 8), Saben bag*, Oliver Peoples sunglasses R: Bared boots* (sz 37), Strathberry bag*, Sezane suede jacket (sz US 6 / AU 10), Henne jeans (sz 27), Oliver Peoples sunglasses

Life’s too short not to wear fun shoes. I am very much in favour of wearing cowboy/western-inspired boots in office settings, and these boots have just enough Western detailing to make an otherwise straightforward outfit more interesting.

I’ve worn mine with everything from jeans to tailored pieces and love the little bit of personality they bring.

#4 – Comfy low block heels with old soul brogue detailing

Was $299, now $209

Bared heels* Anna Quan top* (sz 8), Uniqlo pants* (US link here – sz S – I had these hemmed to a 64cm inseam), Oliver Peoples sunglasses, Oroton bag*

Chocolate brown patent leather! Brogue detailing! A little block heel! These are such a stylish pair of low heels and certainly don’t look like the sort of shoes you’d clock as being podiatrist-designed.

I particularly love the slingback shape, which makes them a pair you can style year round. They obviously look great styled on their own but I’ve also worn these with socks.

#5 – My most worn winter boots

Was $389, now $350

Bared boots*, Sezane jacket (sz FR 36 / AU 8 / US 4), Nobody Denim jeans (a few seasons old, here’s a similar pair), Saben handbag*, Oliver Peoples sunglasses

Polished and comfy combat boots sounds like a bit of an oxymoron, but here we are. I’ve been wearing these combat style boots regularly since I got them at the beginning of the cold season. The chocolate brown is incredibly easy to style and they’re extremely comfortable – I took mine to Queenstown, where we were on our feet a lot, and they were perfect.

They’ve got that chunky, slightly gorpcore feel I love at the moment without looking overly rugged.

Want more of a deep dive?!

If you want a much more detailed look at the Bared styles I own, you can knock yourself out with the YouTube video I posted recently. I’ve sorted the video into chapters by style, so if there’s a particular pair you’re already considering, you can click straight through to it. I also talk a lot more about how I’ve worn and styled each pair.

A Few Pairs On My Wishlist

And because apparently owning many pairs of Bared shoes does not stop me looking at more Bared shoes, these are currently sitting on my wishlist.

If you’ve already got plenty of polished loafers in your wardrobe, consider a boat shoe! This chocolate brown pair has all the classic trimmings, but still feels polished enough for work. A fun, comfy flat with a little more personality – and now 40% off.

This rustic brown pair is very much speaking to me, they’ve got a quaint old-soul vibe and I love them so much! I tried them on when I was in Melbourne earlier in the year and they’re particularly cute styled with socks. I’m kicking myself for not picking them up earlier as it doesn’t look like they’ve got my size available at the moment. I’ll be stalking these over the next couple of days in the hopes they’ll be miraculously restocked!

These tassel-detail flats would make such a good work shoe. Again we have another rustic brown pair of shoes in the mix – can you tell I have a type?

For a pop of colour I love these patent peach flats – such a fun way to add some colour without completely taking over an outfit. I’ve got a pair of slingback flats from Bared (that are old season) and can confirm they’re very comfortable.

I’m also very into this red patent pair. There are quite a few pointed-toe flats around in statement red at the moment, but I sometimes find that combination a little intense. I really like the softer almond toe on these — still fun, but much easier to wear.

Their best selling loafers in tan suede are also high on my list. I feel like this style of loafer is going absolutely nowhere, and these would look so chic styled for the office.

And these aren’t on my wishlist per se, but I needed to call out these awesome tall western style boots as I have the older version of these tall western boots and they are SO good (I’ve included a picture below). They’re also a good option if you have chunkier calves. I am routinely calved out of some of Bared’s slimmer tall-boot styles, but this shape works really well for me. I’ve worn mine to work as well as to events, so despite being a statement boot, they’ve turned out to be really versatile.

A lot of the people I hang out with in 3D look forward to this sale every time it comes around and then inevitably tell me afterwards that they missed out on their size. So, without adding a sense of urgency but totally adding a sense of urgency, if there’s a particular pair you’ve already had your eye on, I wouldn’t faff about. That said, a bargain is only a bargain if you actually wanted the thing in the first place. If nothing grabs you, sit this one out. BUT if the pair you’ve been stalking happens to be included in the sale? Godspeed!

As always, thanks for stopping by!
