I originally came to Sezane for the knitwear. I stayed for the jackets. I basically live here now.
The Scott Trench was my first jacket purchase from the brand and the balance of my Sezane jackets followed at a pace that probably surprised no one except me, particularly over the last year or so. While I’ve got a fairly respectable collection of proper winter coats, it’s the transitional jackets that have been really chipping away at the cost per wear – and Sezane excels in this department. Sydney winters are generally pretty mild (this year’s been particularly un-wintery), and my collection of Sezane jackets reflects that.
Maybe it’s the marketing. Maybe it’s the aspirational chic French styling. Maybe it’s the dreamy photography, which has occasionally led me astray because of their enthusiastic use of filters (the colour in real life has, on more than one occasion, looked nothing like the website). Whatever the reason, here we are with a solid Sezane jacket collection.
I get asked about them fairly regularly, so I thought I’d put all of my jackets for in-between weather in one place: mini reviews, sizing notes, how I like to style each one, and any quirks worth knowing before you buy. Hopefully it’ll save you from opening seventeen browser tabs in the process.
Clyde Jacket in Khaki

L: Sezane jacket*, Uniqlo pants* (US link here – sz S – I had these hemmed to a 64cm inseam), Tony Bianco loafers*, Assembly Label bag (old season, but you can check out their very reasonably priced bags here), Status Anxiety sunglasses R: Sezane jacket*, Ally heels (use VEE40 for $40USD off)*, Scanlan Theodore t-shirt (sz S), Scanlan Theodore jeans (sz AU 8), Status Anxiety sunglasses, Saben bag*
If you’re only familiar with one Sezane jacket, chances are it’s this one.
The single-breasted style has become something of a signature for the brand, and for good reason. The checked lining feels particularly premium, the cotton fabrication has been treated so there’s a water-repellent finish, and the oversized silhouette somehow manages to feel both modern and timeless. It’s one of those jackets that works just as well over tailoring as it does with jeans and a t-shirt. It comes a heap of colours, and the beige and navy versions are great dupes for the Burberry mac coat (which retails for almost 10x the price) .
Because it’s designed to be oversized, I stuck with my usual size (AU 8 / US 4).
Bobby Jacket

L: Sezane navy jacket* (sz US 6), lululemon t-shirt* (sz US 6 / AU 10), lululemon shorts (sold out), Dragon Diffusion bag, Sezane loafers, Oliver Peoples sunglasses; R: Sezane navy jacket* (sz US 6), Uniqlo pants* (US link here – sz S – I had these hemmed to a 64cm inseam), Sezane loafers, Dragon Diffusion bag, Status Anxiety sunglasses*
Think of the Bobby as the Clyde’s cropped younger sibling.
It’s a shorter take on the same effortless aesthetic of a mac and pairs particularly well with high-waisted trousers and denim. I can absolutely see why it’s become one of Sezane’s most popular jackets – my navy jacket has sold out and been restocked several times since I bought it. Sezane has also since introduced the Carter, which sits somewhere between the Bobby and Clyde in length.
Like the Clyde, I bought my usual size (AU 8 / US 4). It’s already intended to have a relaxed fit.
Will Jacket

L: Sezane jacket (sz S), Sezane loafers*, Anna Quan top* (sz AU 8), Nobody Denim jeans (current season wash linked, mine are a few years old), Saint Laurent belt, Loewe bag (featured here), Status Anxiety sunglasses* R: Sezane jacket (sz S), Uniqlo white top* (sz S), Uniqlo orange knit* draped as scarf (sz S), Uniqlo skirt* (sz S), Bared boots*, Parisa Wang bag*, Status Anxiety sunglasses*
I feel like the Will jacket only just makes the threshold of being included in this line-up as I wear this more as a shacket than a jacket. The Will comes in a heap of different colours and textures – the denim one is very popular which I did own at some stage – but the suede version is the one I’d recommend without hesitation.
Sizing on the Will is worth noting (I document my full sizing journey with the jacket here if you’re compelled to go deep) – the size guide recommended an XS for me (equivalent to an AU 8), which I originally purchased. I ended up selling it and repurchasing the S because I realised this is one of the styles that really benefits from a more relaxed fit. If you’re between sizes, I’d seriously consider sizing up.
Scott Trench Coat

L: Sezane trench coat (sz US 4, FR 36), Henne knit (sz S); Levi’s jeans (AU link, US link), Tony Bianco heels, Celine bag (many years old – similar here from Loewe), Francesca earrings*, Status Anxiety sunglasses*; R: Sezane trench coat (sz US 4, FR 36), Status Anxiety sunglasses*, Wittner boots (old season)
If memory serves me correctly, and it’s been foggy as of late, then this is one of the first Sezane jackets I ever bought.
It’s a beautifully made double-breasted trench and the fabric looks and feels incredibly premium. I’ve even prepared a dedicated blog post on the trench here.
That said, style evolves. And while there’s absolutely nothing wrong with this trench, I find myself reaching for the Clyde far more often these days. My wardrobe has gradually shifted towards slightly more relaxed silhouettes, so this one gets a little less airtime than it once did.
I stuck with my usual AU 8 / US 4.
Yuma Jacket

L: Sezane suede jacket (sz US 6 / AU 10), Sezane pointelle t-shirt (sz M), Uniqlo trousers (AU link | US link – sz S, inseam hemmed to 64cm), Saben bag*, Teva sandals, Oliver Peoples sunglasses R: Sezane suede jacket (sz US 6 / AU 10), Henne jeans (sz 27), Bared boots* (sz 37), Strathberry bag*, Oliver Peoples sunglasses
Without question, one of the coolest jackets I own.
This jacket has so much personality and it’s one of those pieces that attracts compliments almost every single time I wear it. It’s a little bit western, a little bit bohemian. The fringing! So. Much. Fun! After learning my lesson with the Will jacket, I sized up from the outset and bought the AU 10 / US 6. No regrets. This style absolutely benefits from the extra room.
Josephine Jacket

Sezane jacket (sz FR 36 / AU 8 / US 4), Nobody Denim jeans (a few seasons old, here’s a similar pair), Bared combat style boots*, Saben handbag*, Oliver Peoples sunglasses
The newest addition to my collection and one I’m already getting plenty of wear out of. There’s a lot of whimsy injected into this style which forms part of Sezane’s collaboration with Sea New York (known for their distinctive use of lace, embroidery and intricate detailing).
Between the cape silhouette, embroidered detailing and heavyweight canvas fabrication, it’s one of those jackets that instantly makes an outfit feel more interesting without being difficult to style. As you can see in my outfit, I’ve thrown it over one of my Uniqlo Heattech tops and a pair of jeans. Done.
I bought my usual AU 8 because it’s already designed to fit oversized. In an ideal world I would have liked a fraction more room through the body, but sizing up would have made the sleeves far too long for my petite frame (they’re already a bit too long!), so I think I made the right call.
As always, thanks for stopping by!
