It’s no secret I have a soft spot for Ally Shoes. Their low-heeled styles – like the beautifully balanced Kitten Heel (that I’ve reviewed here) and their Lower Block Heel (featured here) – have earned a firm spot in my workwear rotation.
So when they told me the news that they were going to launch a loafer (in their same comfort-first language), I was very excited. I’m already a loafers person with a few pairs on rotation. Personally, the “look-sharp-but-you’re-still-in-flats-how-awesome-is-that” vibe is very much my jam, particularly on office days when you might be wearing different hats before and after work.

I’ve had the Ally Shoes City Loafer in Camel Calf Leather on high rotation for a few weeks now and I’m ready to report back now that they’ve been properly road tested through office days, errands and the school run. The style is polished but walkable – and they’ve been quietly elevating my outfits.
Comfort without compromise
If you’ve tried Ally Shoes’ Forever Flats, you’ll be familiar with the brand’s patented internal support structure – and the loafers are no exception. They feature:
- An ergonomically patented designed insole with proper spongy arch support and a toe bed (this is game changing)
- Available in 4 widths and a broad size range from US 4 to 12 (in half sizes!)
- A lightly stacked 20mm heel

The loafers are available in four colourways – black, ecru, a chocolate & ecru mix and camel (my pair). Design wise, they’re pretty classic. They feature a sleek almond toe and subtle buckle details.
From the first wear, the City Loafers were genuinely comfortable – no pinching, no blisters, no need for a break-in period (which, frankly, feels like a luxury these days).

How they’re wearing
I’ve been pairing mine with everything from jeans and midi skirts, blazers to knits – they’ve slotted into my wardrobe effortlessly. We’re in the middle of Autumn in my part of the world, and the transitional season is peak loafers-wearing period, so they’ve come into my life at a perfect time. The camel shade is a versatile neutral – a slightly cool-toned brown that leans towards taupe – it works beautifully with both black and navy.
Despite being in regular rotation, they’ve held up beautifully. The leather has softened just enough to feel lived-in, without losing structure. I’ve worn these both with and without socks. When I wear them without socks (which is most of the time) they don’t slip off and they don’t squeak! (IYKYK)

Final thoughts
The Ally Shoes City Loafers are one of those rare finds that feel as good as they look. They give you a polished silhouette with the comfort of a flat, and they’re sophisticated in their own effortless way. If you’ve been on the hunt for a refined, wear-everywhere flat with a touch of structure, the City Loafer might be your new go-to.
Be sure to take advantage of my unique discount code the Ally Shoes team have created for me to share with you all – VIRGINIA10 will give you 10% off the loafers (and all of their flat shoe styles).
