I’ve made it no secret that I love the cooler season – something about the layers and the cosiness that makes it so inviting. Autumn is, by far, my favourite season to dress for, followed closely by winter, and now that we’re about the transition into the coldest months of the year, I wanted to share five late autumn outfits I’ve recently worn that embody my three words – comfortable, classic and elevated.

Since figuring out my three words (as per Allison Bornstein’s Three Word Method), I’ve been much more purposeful in my approach to getting dressed. If I’m not completely vibing my outfit and it doesn’t embody my three words, I’ll make some simple swaps to ensure it aligns with my personal style. Not only does the three-word method assist when putting together an outfit each morning, it also serves as an extra layer of consideration before making a purchase. It keeps me in check if I’m trying to manifest a version of myself that doesn’t quite translate in reality (eg. floor-length ball gowns probably not the wisest choice when you don’t attend balls, Virginia).

So, here are the outfits!

Outfit #1

Sezane jacket (sz XS), lululemon top (sz UK 4 – AU linkUS linkCA link), Toteme jeans (sz 27), adidas sneakers (sizing info here, also available in this brown/green colour combo), Bellroy bag* (featured here), Status Anxiety sunglasses*

Colour is something I’ve recently embraced after a loooong period of wearing neutrals. This suede jacket is the hero of my outfit and brings a lot of texture and colour. As a result, I’ve kept everything else relatively pared back. I’m wearing my cropped lululemon tank and my Toteme jeans (a petite person win considering they didn’t need to be altered). The brown & yellow sambas create a sandwich effect with the yellow tones and I’ve got my Bellroy crossbody bag to top it all off.

Outfit #2

Sezane trench coat (sz US 4, FR 36), Sezane breton striped top (sz XS), Nobody Denim jeans, Celine bag (watch my review here), Dior shoes, Status Anxiety sunglasses*

Here’s a recent late autumn work outfit featuring one of my favourite jackets in my wardrobe. It doesn’t get more classic than this trench coat in this beige tone, though I find it to be a more relaxed and oversized cut which aligns with my personal style. The outfit is otherwise pretty simple – my breton stripe top from Sezane and a pair of high-waisted black jeans. My Celine bag and Dior pumps add polish to my overall look.

Outfit #3

lululemon trench coat* (sz US 4), lululemon top* (sz US 6), lululemon tights* (sz US 6), Bellroy bag*, Everlane rain boots* (sz US 6), Status Anxiety sunglasses*

Here’s a bit of a rando outfit in this line up – a rainy day athleisure look during the spell of rain we had a couple of weeks ago. We piled the kids into the car on this wet Sunday and drove to get some lunch and walk around the shops after going stir crazy inside the house. Gumboots and leggings? Sure! The star of this outfit has to be this trench coat which drapes beautifully and is made of this magical waterproof fabric. It’s been one of the best additions to my wardrobe this autumn!

Outfit #4

Sportscraft shirt* (sz AU 8), Frankie Shop trousers (sz S), New Balance sneakers (also here), Gucci bag (review here – AU linkUS linkUK link also here), Status Anxiety sunglasses*

Comfortable? Tick. Classic? Tick? Elevated? Tick! Initially, I had my Gucci loafers on but decided to swap them out for my sneakers to lean into the comfort. I’ve made it no secret how much I love my New Balance sneakers! As for the rest of my outfit, I love this denim shirt from Sportscraft – it’s made from a soft and lightweight cotton and it’s a great oversized cut. I’ve worn it as both a shacket and as a shirt and love its versatility. My trousers have been no stranger to the blog – they’re from the Frankie Shop and I’ve had them in my wardrobe for the past few years. And my bag is the bringer of elevation as the bougiest element of my entire outfit. Huzzah!

Outfit #5

Sezane trench coat (sz US 4, FR 36), Sezane blazer (sz UK 8 / US 4 / FR 36), Country Road vest (sz AU 8 – also here and here), Everlane trousers* (sz US 2, short), Ally shoes* (use ‘VIRGINIA40’ for $40USD off all heels – read my review of a similar, but higher, style, here), Bellroy bag* (review here), Arms of Eve earrings* (sold out – similar here)

Finally, here’s an outfit that I wore to the office recently which brought me a lot of joy which you can take a look at properly in this reel. There’s layers & colours and I felt very put together in this ensemble. You’ll recognise the Sezane trench, which appears in an earlier outfit in this post. I’ve layered it on top of my pink blazer (also from Sezane) that has an oversized, double-breasted silhouette. Underneath is my herringbone vest from Country Road which you’ll get a better view of in the reel. My heels, believe it or not, are so comfortable! They’re only 5cm tall and they’ve got a block heel and a ton of comfort features embedded in the design – a rubber sole, plush cushioning and a toe bed to name a few. I talk about the shoes in more detail in this post. If heels are a thing for you for the office, I can’t recommend these heels enough and you can use ‘VIRGINIA40’ to take $40USD off.

Thanks for stopping by!
