Denim shorts are the ultimate summer BFF, and when you add a blazer to the mix, it’s a match made in heaven! But let’s be real, the thought of combining denim shorts and blazers might seem a little odd at first. But don’t worry, I’m here to show you how to make it work, and inspire some summer outfits you can style from your wardrobe!

#1 – Get the fit right

You want your denim shorts to be snug around the waist, but not so tight that you second guess eating a delicious meal. And if you’re wearing high waisted shorts (my favourite!), make sure they hit you at the right spot, or you’ll be constantly adjusting them when you’re wearing them. My go-to style are these high-waisted shorts from Nobody Denim. I have these in both a blue wash and a black wash and take my usual size 26.

#2 – Pick a blazer wisely

To take the vibes of your outfit down a notch, go for a relaxed blazer in a neutral colour. A darker blazer will make your overall look dressier whereas you’ll achieve a more relaxed look if you opt for a lighter option. Unlike a work context, your blazer doesn’t have to fit perfectly for your outfit to work, you can easily roll up your sleeves if they’re a bit long and if it doesn’t fit perfectly on your shoulders, then that doesn’t really matter either. In fact, oversized is probably better in this situation.

#3 – Accessorise strategically

Keep it simple, folks. A pair of classic loafers, a statement belt, and a simple crossbody bag are all you need. Don’t overdo it, or you’ll end up looking like a Christmas tree you neglected to pack up.

#4 – Know your audience

If you’re headed to a fancy shindig, dress up your denim shorts with a pair of heels and a more formal blazer. But if you’re just hanging with friends, a blazer and denim shorts with sneakers or Birkenstocks will do the trick.

So there you have it, folks! A summer outfit combo that’s hard to beat. While a blazer means business, the casual vibe of the shorts show that you’re not taking it too seriously.

As always, thanks for stopping by!
