Polka Dot heaven is a thing guys, and I’m pleased to report I’ve arrived and I’m making myself right at home. I appreciate it’s back-to-back polka dot dresses on the blog but I’m still not willing to say that I have a type when it comes to dresses… yet anyway 😉. That said, the Sezane dress that featured in my last blog post is a fun mini length number whereas this new addition that I’m about to introduce you has a completely different vibe. Say hello to my new Zimmermann peachy dress – and isn’t she a sweetheart?! (Side note, hot daymn, it’s been a long time since I’ve made a Zimmy purchase!)

If you enjoy wearing pared back and simple pieces like me, then polka dot prints are perfect for that aesthetic. As one of the more minimal prints, they normally come in monochromatic or muted colour palettes and are considered by many to be timeless, meaning you can add a bit of something-something to jazz up your outfit.

I bought this dress with some end-of-year events in mind. Seeing as though I’ve got myself covered in the mini dress department (see here and here), I wanted a more conservative option to have up my sleeve for those events that call for it. But that doesn’t necessarily mean boring – this Zimmermann dress is anything but! It features ruffled trims at the waist, blouson sleeves which taper in at the cuffs and the dress is made from a premium crepe de chine silk. While it’s designed to be midi-length, the dress hits me at my ankles as I’m petite but that doesn’t bother me in the slightest (I’m sure I’m one in a sea of many petites who can relate with midi dresses fitting more like maxis). When I tried the dress in store, I loved how it looked with my strappy sport sandals, but as you can see in the imagery I snapped while having a play with the dress at home, I love how my metallic heels add some extra spice to the look.

I managed to nab the dress on sale (P.S. the pink version and navy version are also on sale!) which makes it an even more rewarding purchase! I went with my usual Zimmermann size – a size 1 – and it fits me well (I’m typically wear a size AU/UK 8 and US 2-4). While Zimmermann’s RTW dresses are known for their puff and lace and tulle and frill, I’m a fan of the simplicity of the design of this dress. Their signature dresses look amazing on so many but I find all the extra details that go into a quintessential Zimmermann dress overwhelm my proportions and don’t suit my frame.
This Zimmermann polka dot number is the perfect go-to for when you don’t want to be too flashy but find a block colour not exciting enough. And considering how polka dots have transcended seasons, it’s the easiest way to look chic!
Thanks for stopping by!
