I love a good statement earring or a pair of fancy shoes on special occasions (see here and here), but it’s the simple things that have my heart, at least when it comes to sartorial matters. Now when I say simple, I don’t mean boring. I’m minded to gravitate towards elevated basics that are cut really well but are easy to style with my existing wardrobe. I also tend to favour premium fabrics as I progress through my 30s – like cashmere, merino, silk and all things luxurious (and slightly more fiddly when it comes to laundering!). The pay off has been worth my while, as I’ve noticed a lot of those elevated basics have really gone the distance when it comes to longevity, even after years of wear.

On that note, I thought I’d share some of my current wardrobe go-tos, neatly summarised in this outfit that I wore to the office recently. While I have been branching out with my wardrobe colour palette recently, I am really comfortable in my neutral tones. I love the simplicity of this monochrome outfit that features wardrobe elevated wardrobe items that I’ll be relying on for many years.

I’m sporting Arket’s heavyweight t-shirt, a real step-up from their classic crew neck tee. This is such a premium item, the fabric is really thick and luxurious, and I’ve now made it my mission to get this tee in all. the. colours! If you’ve been a reader here for a while, then you’ll know that Arket’s classic crew neck tee has been a wardrobe staple of mine for years (I have it in 7 colours!). The heavyweight version however, is worth the higher price tag. It does retail for double the price though, so it’ll be a gradual accumulation for me.
My Frankie Shop trousers make another appearance and are another wardrobe staple that I own in multiple colours (three to be exact). The cut really suits my pear-shaped frame, and the wide-leg cut is slimming on my legs. I’ve had these pants hemmed by my tailor to hit me at my ankles, considering they’re made for extremely tall people! It’s a really nice feeling to pop on an item of clothing that you know has been tweaked for you.

My black blazer is from The Curated, designed in collaboration with Emma Hill. It’s a merino wool blazer that’s lined with silk which makes it a very luxurious user experience if I say so myself. I’ve popped on my Sarah Flint pumps which I’ve had for a while now. They’re a taupe coloured suede, which is probably best described as a warm light grey. As is the theme of this post, this is another wardrobe item that I have in multiple colours (read… five!). I’ve written a comprehensive review about the style here.
Accessories wise, I’m relying on some of my old faithfuls, my Celine Small Cabas Tote in Grey (you can watch my comprehensive review here) and my Ray Ban sunglasses which are getting a little weak at the arms! (Thank goodness these are part of their classic line so, easily replaceable if they do need to be retired)
