It’s been a hot minute since I shared a bag review on the blog, and in today’s post, I’m excited to share one of my newest discoveries, Mirta – an online marketplace of curated handcrafted items by Italian artisans. Mirta is a one-stop shop for beautiful and luxurious items and features an incredible selection of bags. Every bag that is available to purchase via Mirta is designed and handmade in Italy, allowing the work of those exceptionally talented artisans to be accessible to the world.

Mirta is currently running a special campaign through to the 28th of August. They’re offering 20% off all purchases over $400USD with the code 20QIXI for you to take advantage of! I thought now would be an opportune time to share a bag review of a popular style from Mirta.

I loved the idea of Mirta when I first heard about it – it’s like the Farfetch for Italian artisans, and I was blown away by the selection of bags on offer. After receiving one of their bags, I have been thoroughly impressed with the quality and craftsmanship of my bag, which no doubt reflects the amazing craftsmanship that Italy is known for when it comes to their leather goods.  The unboxing experience was delightful, the bag was carefully packed in its dust bag in a Mirta box and arrived within 3 days via DHL.

I opted for the Noa bag from Boldrini Selleria, a small Tuscan artisan boutique that have been handcrafting bags since 1955. Since receiving the bag, I’ve put it to very good use. The leather is a stunning rich golden brown vegetable-tanned calfskin leather, which is a special type of leather that is sturdy and smooth. The bag can be worn in two different ways, as a top handle and as a crossbody.  The crossbody strap is both adjustable and removable, and I particularly like how the strap is nice and thin, very similar to my Celine Trio bag.

The bag is very well compartmentalised, there are two side compartments and then a zipped compartment in the middle which also has a mobile phone holder. The bag closure is magnetic which snaps shut automatically if security is a priority for you.

I’ve been putting the bag to good use since I received it over a month ago – it is the perfect sized bag for running errands and to use on weekends when I’m out and about with the kids. I’m 5’2” and I’ve adjusted the crossbody straps for the bag to sit comfortably on my petite frame. While it’s a very luxurious addition to my handbag rotation, I love its fuss-free nature given how sturdy it is.  The structure of the bag is also great in that it can sit up its own when I place the bag on the table or a chair. And the colour is a stunning rich shade that has so easily paired with my wardrobe.

I’ve got my eye on the Opera bag next, another popular design from Boldrini Selleria, but there are so many other boutiques that you can shop via the Mirta platform. Now’s as good a time as any to have a browse given their current 20% off promotion! You can take a look at their expansive handbag selection here, where you’ll no doubt be blown away by the range of styles. But to give you a head start, I’ve included my top picks below that are worth a second look.
