If you’re like me and you’ve consumed your fair share videos summarising the “top 10 wardrobe items”, you might notice some recurring items that appear – a pair of jeans, a white tee, a blazer – to name a few. While they’re wardrobe classics, their simplicity means that they may begin to feel dull over time after so many wears. If you feel that starting to happen, you’ll need a fresh dose of outfit inspiration to get those styling juices flowing again! One such item that I’ve fallen back in love with is the black skirt. I picked up the Anine Bing Bar Silk Skirt earlier this year and it wields mighty styling power when it comes to amount of outfits that I’ve been able to create.

In today’s post, I’m doing a public service to the black skirts lying dormant in your wardrobe by highlighting my favourite ways to style my Anine Bing skirt. It’s midi-length, making it a practical option, and it’s cut on the bias for a flattering drape. The texture of the silk satin fabric instantly elevates my outfits with its sheen and fluidity and to top it all off, it’s a comfortable piece to wear, thanks to the elasticated waistband. Size wise, I took a size S. I’m 5’2″ and typically wear an UK/AU 8-10 in bottoms and I’m very happy with the size.
For a piece that is perfect to wear year-round, I’ve got four looks to inspire you for all seasons below to help you refresh your black skirt styling. From casual looks to boujee ensembles, the versatility and pairings are endless!
#1 – Monochromatic for work
#2 – A/W smart casual
#3 – Transitional chic with layered knits
#4 – Elevated casual for S/S
As always, thanks for stopping by!
