You know that feeling you get when you pop on an item of clothing and feel so amazing that it lifts your spirits and puts you in a great mood for the rest of the day? There are a fair few wardrobe staples that do that for me – a blazer, a well-fitting pair of jeans, a silk blouse.. and in the summer, a playful dress. With most of Australia in lockdown right now, we owe it to ourselves to look ahead to later this year when we can hopefully be reunited with family and friends and properly enjoy our summer.

We’ve spent a lot of time scrolling on our phones adding to and checking off items on our wish lists. And with better days on the horizon and more sunshine on the way, I thought it might be nice to share some of the best Spring/Summer dresses that I’ve seen (and added to my wardrobe along the way!). While I’m yet to switch my wardrobe over to my S/S rotation, I managed to frolic around the house in my newest summer dress (shared below!), and after a little time spent adding some beautiful new pieces into the mix (including some lovely affordable options that I’ll share in forthcoming posts), I’m feeling optimistic for the warmer season.
The newest addition to my wardrobe is this Reformation beauty – shirred around the bust but loose fitting from the waist down (great for hiding a food baby – bottomless brunches post lockdown anyone?!) – it’s comfortable and flattering. Size wise, I opted for a size S and it fits me really well (FYI I’m an AU 8 and 158cm tall).

Luxury picks
I’m spending a fair bit of time on Net-A-Porter lately. (I’m totally sucked in by the fast shipping and free returns…) Aside from the bags that I swoon over while browsing on NAP, summer dresses have been high on the radar. Perhaps you’ve been looking to indulge in a designer piece this summer and a beautiful lightweight dress is on your wish list? Before adding my Reformation dress to my wardrobe, I had been on the hunt for something special for a few celebrations coming up (locked down or not!) – something a little bit more special than the loungewear that has dominated recently.
Premium high-street finds
The premium high-street labels always produce incredible pieces and I’ve linked some that have caught my eye below. And whenever you’re spending a bit more, keeping versatility in mind is always a good idea!

A beautiful dress doesn’t have to carry a hefty price tag if your budget doesn’t stretch too far. There are some beautiful options on the high street that are perfect candidates to keep you summer happy. I’ve included some options below from Aere The Label for my AU-based readers and H&M if you’re abroad.
