Having worked hybrid weeks for the best part of a month, I’ve been getting the best of both worlds – days in the office to collaborate with my colleagues face-to-face (that have also included coffee runs and lunch catch-ups too!) and remote work from home days where I can clock off for the day and pick up the kids at a decent hour.  It’s been a great way to strike a balance between the two ways of working.

On the days that I do head in, I’ve been making a conscious effort to dress the part.  And having made a proper effort for the past few weeks, I can emphatically say that the way you dress directly impacts your confidence.

It has been great to dust off my workwear favourites from my wardrobe again.  And one contemporary brand that has regularly featured in my outfits for the office has been London-based label, The Fold, known for their impeccable tailoring and quality craftsmanship.  Its founder, Polly McMaster, comes from a background of financial consulting and private equity (both very male dominated fields) and was dissatisfied with the inferior quality of women’s workwear available at the time.  So in 2012, with a firsthand understanding of the demands that a corporate wardrobe needs to fulfil, she set out to create modern pieces that make it really easy for career women to feel put together and confident for a day at work.  The rest, as they say, is history.

In today’s post, I wanted to share with you the pieces from The Fold that have formed part of my regular workwear rotation.  And if you’ve had your eye on their pieces for a while, to celebrate International Women’s Day, during the month of March, every woman who refers a friend to The Fold will receive 15% off, not just for themselves but for their friends too.  And for every order placed through The Fold’s referral scheme, they’ll donate £5 to Smart Works charity.  So now’s as good a time as any to take advantage!

Belleville Top & Slim Leg Trousers in Navy Clever Crepe

The Fold’s Clever Crepe collection is designed to be a mix and match of the core wardrobe staples in their signature crepe which is soft, fluid and crease-resistant (not to mention machine washable) and is comfortable as it is professional. The pieces in this collection are matte on the outside but silky smooth on the inside, thanks to its silky lining. And as with all pieces from The Fold, they’re designed with longevity and versatility in mind.

My top pick from the Clever Crepe collection is the Belleville top – their hero staple design that is released each season in different fabrics and hues.  The draping on the top is both feminine and conservative and the top is dressy enough that you don’t need to wear a jacket over the top.  It’s the perfect top to wear to work and transitions well to an after-work-drinks-thing (or even a date).

I’ve paired the Belleville Top with the Slim Leg trousers also from the same Clever Crepe tailoring capsule.  They’re so comfortable to wear and they’re designed with belt loops and pockets with an elastic waistband at the back.  For reference, I’ve taken a size UK 8 in both of these pieces and I’m a true size AU 8.

A re-release for the new season, the Collingham Jacket makes a statement with its unique design.  Tailored from Italian Wool, it features a flattering wrapped waistband secured with side buttons that creates an hourglass silhouette.  The grey check contains subtle lines of blush pink and olive green that add a boost of colour.

As always, thanks for stopping by!

P.S.  My thoughts on the new Celine Pico Belt Bag and my designer wishlist for 2021.
