It feels a bit strange sporting outerwear and jeans during the height of summer here in Sydney, but the cooler summer days we’ve been experiencing have been a welcome change from the blazing hot summer we went through last year.  It’s hard to believe that was 12 months ago and what a contrast these summers have been.

Despite not being able to get away for our summer break (thanks heaps Covid 😭), my husband and I have enjoyed some much-needed time off work with our boys over the Christmas and New Year period.  Weather permitting, we’ve been going on daily walks to get some fresh air and we’ve been enjoying more takeaway meals than usual! Unfortunately, our plans to travel interstate down to Victoria to reunite with family for Christmas were foiled at the last minute by Covid.  Things were looking really promising in the weeks leading up to Christmas so we were naturally all very disappointed to have to cancel our trip last minute.  2020 has really been a year of Plan Bs.

I thought I’d share a couple of relaxed looks I’ve been sporting during my time off and highlight some of the pieces that I’ve enjoyed wearing these past couple of weeks.

Outfit #1 – Wool Mackinaw Jacket & Pointy Loafers

This jacket is a bit of magic really – a soft and fuzzy hand feel with a throw-on-top-of-anything type of vibe – it makes relaxed dressing effortless. I’ve been loving Everlane’s Wool Mackinaw Jacket, which I have in the navy in a size XXS (it’s still cosy and oversized even though I sized down from my usual XS).  It’s a great layering piece and is a very stylish take on the “shacket”. Save for the zippers and trim, it’s comprised entirely of recycled fabrics.  The texture is wonderfully soft thanks to the premium felted wool.

Another recent addition to my wardrobe has been this pair of loafers from Nicholas Kirkwood that I’ve had my eye on for the past couple of years.  I love the art deco inspired design and how they elevate the most casual of outfits.  I’m planning on writing a comprehensive review once I’ve had a chance to properly road-test them so be sure to keep an eye out for that review if the Beya loafers have been on your radar for a while.

Outfit #2 – Elevated Pullover & Beya Loafers

I’ve also really enjoyed throwing on this stylish mock neck pullover to wear when pottering around the house and when ducking out quickly to run errands here and there.  While it looks to be a simple black jumper, the small design tweaks take this classic wardrobe staple to the next level.  It features an elevated neckline, voluminous sleeves and is a chic oversized fit that looks effortless and relaxed.  And one of the best things about the pullover is that it’s made from renewed plastic bottles.

The jumper has sold out a couple of times now so I apologise if it’s sold out at the time I publish this post.  But I’m crossing my fingers that it is restocked and have linked it here in the event it has.

I hope you’re all enjoying a slower start to your new year and that you’re all keeping well.

Thanks again for stopping by.

P.S. My style favourites for 2020 and my top 10 favourites from Everlane from 2020.

The NK beya loafers are my fave! I’m dying to get the black ones, I wore my beige ones almost daily. Best shoe ever.

I’m really enjoying them at the moment! I’ve got my eye on some lighter ones given how easy they are to wear! x
