In today’s post, I thought I’d walk you through the products that I use as part of my everyday makeup routine.  I’m a creature of habit when it comes to beauty products.  If I find something I like, I tend to stick with it.  The makeup products I’m featuring in this post are ones that I’ve enjoyed using for years.  And since kids have come into the picture, it’s really important to me that the products I use are reliable and effortless to apply, as I only really have around 10 minutes in the morning (at most!) to get dressed and put on my face for the day!

I’ve never really spoken about beauty products before on the blog so here are some quick facts about my skin: I’ve got combination skin with an oily T-zone as well as acne scars on my face as souvenirs from my teenage years (P.S.  I still get acne and blemishes today, usually associated with hormonal fluctuations… plus, I like to collect spots  💁).

I like to keep my makeup neutral, and just try to look like a more enhanced version of myself.  I gravitate towards cream-based products where I can use my fingers as I like a dewy finish (and don’t really have the time or motivation to be faffing about with washing brushes and whatnot).

Face

Foundation

Because of my acne scars, I wear foundation on a daily basis.  I love the formulation of Nars Sheer Glow for every day.  It’s a great buildable formula and it works well in the areas of my face that are prone to getting oily.  At the moment I’m using the shade ‘Vallauris’ but during the warmer months when my face is more tanned, I’ll mix some ‘Stromboli’ through.

On days when I want heavier coverage or for special occasions, I’ll rely on Estee Lauder Double Wear Foundation.  It offers great coverage and just stays put.  My shade is ‘Rattan’ which has a warmer base tone.

Concealer

Nars Creamy Concealer in Ginger has been my go-to for yeeeears.  I always keep this in my handbag and touch up throughout the day around my nose and chin. A tiny bit of product goes a long way too. I find a tube of this stuff will last me for over a year.

Blush

I’ve been using Bobbi Brown Pot Rouge in Powder Pink for the best part of 10 years.  During the summer, I’ll brighten my cheeks up with ‘Calypso Coral’ as I find this looks great when I’m more tanned, but for every day, ‘Powder Pink’ is a lovely nude-pink tone.  I love the ease of use and the tiniest amount goes a long way.

Bronzer

My favourite bronzer is, without a doubt, Chanel Tan De Soleil.  This really suits my skin tone and gets rave reviews from beauty lovers for being universally flattering.  It offers a great matte finish and gives me a nice sun-kissed look.  I’ll also pop a bit of this on my eyelids, as I don’t really wear eyeshadow as part of my everyday makeup routine.

I’ve previously used Charlotte Tilbury’s Filmstar Bronze & Glow Palette and while I find both shades incredibly flattering, I dropped it by accident and the highlighter section shattered into pieces!  It still sits on my dresser and is a tad messy when I do feel like using it, but the little mishap only reaffirmed my love for the ease of cream products!

Highlighter

My highlighter of choice is RMS Beauty’s Living Luminizer which is a hydrating and silky formulation.  I use it at the top of my cheeks to give them a subtle sheen and glow.

Lately, I’ve also been enjoying Hourglass’ Ghost Ambient Lighting Blush Quad which gives a lovely glowy sheen when applied. This quad and its variations tend to get released in the period leading up towards Christmas.

Lips

Unlike my attitude to other makeup products where I’m a creature of habit, I have a suite of nude pink/mauve toned lipsticks that I rotate between depending on my mood and the finish that I’m after.

For a soft glossy sheen, I’ll wear Hourglass Girl Lip Stylo in Futurist; for a semi-matte finish, I’ll turn to Bobbi Brown Lip Colour in Sandwash Pink and for a matte finish, I’ll pop on Charlotte Tilbury Matte Revolution in Pillow Talk.

I’ve only got one lip liner in my collection and it’s Charlotte Tilbury’s Lip Cheat in Pillow Talk.  It’s such a great shade and is a lovely nude pink colour.

Eyes & Brows

I’ll fill in my brows using MAC Eye Brow Styler in Spiked.  I find this blends really nicely and provides a natural look to my brows.

If I’m pressed for time, I’ll usually just skip this step altogether, but on the days that I can manage it, I’ll pop on eyeliner on both my waterline and my lid.  I’ve been using MAC Technakhol Eyeliner in Graphblack as part of my everyday makeup routine for over 10 years.  It’s a mechanical pencil-style liner that’s soft, creamy and stays put.

I have Asian lashes which quite frankly, I’ve given up on.  Hence, I do away with mascara for every day but will use it on special occasions.  When I do use mascara, I’ll use Benefit Bad Gal Bang! Mascara which makes a subtle difference once I’ve given my lashes a once over with my eyelash curler.
