In adapting to this new normal, we’ve developed some family rituals to keep us happy and our spirits bright. On weekends, we’ve been going for walks in the morning in lieu of park time where the boys would normally be in the playground (we’re a little anxious about playgrounds at the moment!). To keep things interesting, we pop a wireless speaker at the bottom of the stroller (Caspar Babypants currently on repeat) and always have an emergency stash of Arrowroot biscuits on hand just in case Mr 3 and Mr 1 start getting ratty. Our boys have been so resilient and have really grown during this period. If you’ve got kids, I’m sure you’ll be able to say the same about them during this time too.
In the afternoons, when the younger boys are both napping, my husband and I have also been getting into the habit of playing Nintendo Switch with the older two boys (Mr 10 and Mr 8) and it is getting really competitive. We’re loving Mario Kart at the moment! The gaming continues when the younger boys go down for the night. We always play a couple of rounds of Monopoly Deal and Uno with the older two before their bedtime.
One of my go-to colour combinations at the moment is different shades of brown. A lot of my knits and cold weather items are either brown or camel so it’s always an easy winter look to pull together. I’ve been loving my winter browns at the moment, which have been a welcome change from the usual black and navy tones that I was heavily reliant on in previous winters.
This high neck cashmere sweater has been a great layering piece (and one of my go-tos on WFH days as it is so soft and toasty). My coat has since sold out but I’ve found a similar option here. I love the oversized fit and how it elevates even the most relaxed of outfits.
I hope you’re all having a nice weekend. Stay safe and well x
