Having been on my radar for the best part of two years, it was a sweet moment to finally check the J’Adior slingback kitten heel pumps off my wishlist! After paying several visits to the Dior boutique earlier this year to test out the different slingback styles (including the 10cm comma heel and the flats), my heart was set on adding the kitten heel style in black technical fabric to my wardrobe.
Instead of purchasing these new, I opted to go down the pre-loved route and managed to save some pennies. I did a fair bit of due diligence before biting the bullet (as per my usual practice with big ticket items) and managed to find an almost new pair in my size at a price I was willing to pay.

Dior slingbacks styled with Uniqlo trench (sold out, similar here and here), Reiss knit, Nobody Denim jeans, Celine bag (review here), Gucci Belt (review here) and Ray Ban sunglasses
It’s been a while since I’ve been this excited over a pair of heels! The heels tick both the form and function boxes for me and I couldn’t be happier. While I ummed and ahhed about whether to go for the higher 10cm heel, I ultimately wanted a pair of shoes that were comfortable enough to traipse around in all day. From a comfort perspective, the 6.5cm comma heel means they’re comfortable enough to wear all day, as opposed to higher heel heights which end up being ‘car-to-bar’ shoes (not that we’ve been heading to any ‘bars’ these days!).
Style-wise, the weave on the heavyweight canvas adds texture and dimension and the embroidered J’Adior ribbon which is tied in a bow on the side makes a bit of a whimsical statement without being too garish.
I can’t wait to wear these out and about when normal programming resumes. I’ve already had a bit of fun styling the heels at home and playing a bit of dress up. I think they look great paired with skinny jeans or cropped pants and are versatile enough to be styled for both work and off-duty.

P.S. My style diary for July (including my favourites for the month) and a heap of my comprehensive bag and shoe reviews.
They do add some interest to the outfit! Thanks for providing some insight and thought process behind your considered purchase.

Thanks so much Jo! I’m so happy with them =)
Love these so much! I think you made a good decision going with the shorter heel height. I’ve been on the fence about any sort of heels or fancy shoes because the only shoes I’ve worn all of spring and summer have been my pair of white sneakers. Amsterdam’s cobblestoned streets and overall chill vibe has taken away from my style, lol.

The cobblestones would make things very challenging! I’ve yet to add white sneakers to my wardrobe but they are on my list given how relaxed workwear is now that we’re WFH 🙂
Hey! Would love to know how they wear over time. I’m thinking that the Dior strap might get dirty or loose/not hold it’s shape over time, which would suck for such pricey shoes!
